Digital Connectivity

The North Wales Economic Ambition Board is preparing a programme of investment as part of the Growth Deal to improve digital connectivity across the region. Work on the programme is expected to start in 2021 but much is also happening now in North Wales.

Support is available locally across the region for communities interested in improving broadband in their areas. Whether it is understanding how to apply to the Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme or how your community could work together to connect many households and businesses, the local contacts below may be able to advise and explain what your options are.

Many premises across North Wales will also qualify for the ‘Universal Service Obligation’ (or USO) which means from the 20th March 2020 every home and business in the UK has the legal right to request a decent, affordable broadband connection. Full details on the background of the USO are available from Ofcom HERE

Your home or business will be eligible if it:

  • has no access to existing decent broadband; and
  • will not be covered by a public broadband scheme offered by the UK and devolved governments in the next 12 months.
