Medical giant ConvaTec are planning a £7.9million expansion to their Deeside site, which could pave the way for up to up to 40 new jobs.
Based on the Flintshire town’s industrial park, ConvaTec are leaders in the medical tech field and are now planning on expansion with their current facility at capacity.
Their new proposals include office space for a minimum of 190 staff with an allowance for future expansion, which increases the capacity from 159 staff and more who work off site. Key areas of expansion are set for the research and development facilities
ConvaTec is a global medical products and technologies company focused on therapies for the management of chronic conditions, with leading market positions in advanced wound care, ostomy care, continence and critical care, and infusion devices.
The company boast over 9,500 employees in over 110 countries, expanding their work across every continent on the planet.
A spokesperson for ConvaTec said: “The proposed plan would allow us to meet current and future operational needs, including an expansion of facilities to support our R&D programme and new office space for our UK organization and other teams.
“In addition to better accommodating the needs of our current teams, the plan would accommodate an estimated 20-40 new employees, spread across the teams based at the site”.
A consultation on the plan is open until August 31st and Flintshire Council hope to achieve an outcome by the beginning of October.
